CATALINA FLYING BOAT – GROUP OPERATION
The Catalina flying boat “Miss Pick Up”, based at the Imperial War Museum’s airfield at Duxford in Cambridgeshire, has become a very popular and reliable airshow performer throughout Europe. Importantly, she has proved that the concept of operating a large ‘warbird’ on a shared ownership basis can be a great success and of terrific benefit to her shareholders.
The operator, Plane Sailing Air Displays Ltd, is holding a ‘future shareholder’ event so that a small reserve of interested individuals can be ready to join our group when one of the twenty shares becomes available. This can happen from time to time if an existing shareholder retires. Share ownership gives the opportunity to fly the Catalina (for qualified pilots) or to fly in her as a passenger/crew member for enthusiasts. Most of our existing pilots are shareholders.
The event will take place on Sunday, October 15th – if the idea of becoming a part-owner of the Catalina and having the opportunity to get airborne in her appeals to you then come along, without obligation, and spend a day with the team, learning about what we do and how we do it! There will be a full program of events during the day and plenty of opportunity to speak with crew members and shareholders who will be happy to share their experiences and answer questions.
Prior booking is required before September 30th – contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
The Catalina Society is the supporters club for the PBY5A Catalina. The groups aim is to keep this beautiful old flying boat airworthy for many years to come. By forming the society, we have brought together people who share our aim. But more importantly, you will be joining a dedicated group of enthusiasts who can proudly associate themselves with their aircraft. Find out more via website and Facebook!
