Need a break from the day to day? How about a trip from Key West down to the Dry Tortugas? Don’t live anywhere near Key West? Then luckily for you we’ve managed to find a great video from Travel With Rick that will allow you to follow along on a great trip down to explore Fort Jefferson in Fort Jefferson National Park.

The flight is in a 1948 Beech 35 with amphibious floats. It will take off in Key West (KEYW) and head West before touching down just outside of the island that Fort Jefferson sits on in the Dry Tortugas.

Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and prepare to relax through 15 minutes of a ride that will almost make you feel like you are actually in the plane.

If you are in the area, this is a trip that is actually quite feasible for you to make in your own seaplane. It’s only roughly 60nm from Key West over to the Dry Tortugas; just make sure you do all of your planning first. You have to obtain a permit to land in the national park prior to your trip, and there are certain rules and regulations about where you can and cannot operate.
