Another Seaplane Launch From Land Using A Dolly
We recently found and shared with you a video of a floatplane taking off from a runway with the help of a truck and trailer; today we’re going to take a look at another way that a seaplane on straight-floats can get off the ground without water under its wings.
Take a look at the video below to see what a floatplane launched from a dolly looks like.
A dolly launch system works very similar to a trailer launch, except there is no truck pulling the dolly. The dolly is basically functions as the wheels, except the whole apparatus moves under the planes power.
This particular dolly launch video belongs to and was shared with members of Seaplaneforum.com by Tim McCormack several years ago. While it already appears to work quite well, McCormack later went back and added a break-away brake system to the dolly so that it would slow down and come to a more controlled stop after the seaplane’s departure.
