Brandnew ROTAX 915iS Arrives In Russia For L45 Development

RotaxEven though currently frozen in a few feet of snow and lots of ice, the folks at SeaBear Aircraft in Samara Russia are excited to report the arrival of two brand spanking new 141 horsepower ROTAX 915iS Engines. These power-plants will be installed in the more powerful L45. Previous versions of the airplane had names like L42 (4 Seats, Rotax 912), L44 (4 Seats, Rotax 914) and now the L45 (we really hope you get the drift). Just a short time ago they shared the video below on flying the L44 in the snow, performing  touch and go’s with the gear in the up position.

Based on the proven concept of the Rotax 912 / 914 engine series, the Rotax 915 iS engine offers more power, the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, full take-off power up to 15,000 feet (4,570 m) and a service ceiling of 23,000 feet (7,010 m). The engine without fuel pump assembly, radiator and oil cooler weighs in at 186 pounds. Delivering high power at low weight while keeping fuel costs down has been the reason that the aircraft engines are currently first choice for more than 220 aircraft manufacturers worldwide.
