Former MLB Pitcher Roy Halladay Killed In ICON A5 Accident

Roy Halladay, the famous retired MLB Pitcher who quite recently took delivery of his new ICON A5 (N922BA), was fatally injured in an accident in the Gulf of Mexico, yesterday. Halladay, 40, was the only person on board and crashed just off New Port Richey on the Gulf coast north of the Tampa Bay area, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said. The single-engine plane, an Icon A5, crashed in very shallow water and was found upside down.

A 911 call came in at 12:06 p.m. ET saying that a small plane had crashed. There were no distress calls, the sheriff’s office said. ICON released a statement on its website, announcing their devastation with the loss of Halladay, however deferring to the NTSB for further details on the cause of the crash.
Updates will be shared as they become available.
