Port Miami Seaplane Flip Puts Pilot In Hospital
Having a bad day was the pilot of an amphibious seaplane who flipped between the coast of Dodge and Watson Island on Saturday, causing Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel to respond. The pilot, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue divers searched the water and determined that the pilot was the only person aboard the plane.
The U.S. Coast Guard, and the Miami Beach Police Department’s marine unit also responded to the crash. Later a crane was used to pull the plane out of the water in an attempt to turn it upright and bring it back on land. The cause of the crash is now under investigation.
