ICON Aircraft Announces Leadership Changes

As ICON moves into a new chapter focused on aircraft production and commercialization, Kirk Hawkins, the companies founder, is stepping back from his position as Chief Executive Officer. This change allows for a new and expanding leadership team to take ICON from vision, creation, and product launch phases into scale-able production. Hawkins stays on the team and continues to help the manufacturer with its further market development.

During the past 18 months, ICON has gained significant momentum supporting its vision to make personal adventure flying more accessible by establishing a world class aircraft manufacturing operation. As part of that, the company opened a new 300,000 square foot composite manufacturing facility and optimized production efficiency at its final assembly line in Vacaville, CA. ICON is now producing 8-10 ICON A5 aircraft per month, with customer deliveries taking place weekly.

“Kirk’s clear vision, incredible product leadership and sheer force of will created ICON and played a critical role in getting it where it is today with a truly revolutionary company and aircraft,” said Thomas Wieners, ICON President and COO. “I look forward to working with the entire team as we focus specifically on growing our global brand now and delivering aircraft to adventure seekers worldwide.”

In a statement, Kirk Hawkins said: “ICON has not only produced one of the safest, coolest, easiest to fly personal aircraft on the planet; but the ICON team has laid the foundation for a truly game-changing aircraft company for decades to come. I couldn’t be prouder of what the ICON team has accomplished and look forward to helping the company in this next exciting stage of growth and new product development”
