Famous Sikorsky S38 Waterbird In Germany

Courtesy of Frank Degen who owns and runs Frank Air in Germany comes this beautiful shot of the Sikorsky S38 which is now under ownership of Kermit Weeks in Florida. A long time ago, between 2010 and 2012, the plane and its former owner spent a few winters in Germany, being based at the Welzow Airport.

Frank is the operator of Germany’s sole fully registered seaplane base and accommodates several amazing aircraft in his hangar. Among the highlights is a fully demilitarized Mig 21, a beautiful Lake Amphibian and several other flying goodies. Frank is the initiator and brain behind a concept to bring Aerial Firefighting Aircraft to Germany, a project we were able to actively support with our magazine while still being sponsored by Wipaire.
